Dinner with Dee

deanne, angela, sebastian, amber, and i drove down to atlanta to see dee & russ for an early easter dinner. it was a pretty decent drive until we got to atlanta, then it was bumper to bumper, blue lights everywhere. i believe everyone from tennessee, ohio, canada, and michigan were headed to florida.

we were able to miss a bad accident on I-20 due to stopping for a potty break for amber. it was a mad scramble for the nearest exit when her little voice called out that she had to "poop and pee"! then it was my turn to quickly get her to the restroom. fortunately, we made it in time, lol. but, thanks to that stop we were just short minutes behind a 6 car accident with injuries. thank you, amber!

dee & russ have bought a 5 acre mini farm that is "in the works". the house is a shell that they are finishing. it is a huge house styled after a barn which the master bedroom and game room on the main floor and the kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms upstairs. i don't know that i would want to carry groceries uptstairs, but dee was happy with it. she was very excited with the space in the kitchen and the storage that she is going to have. i am happy for her, with the excitment of building your own home. she thinks they will be able to live in it within six weeks. right now they are roughing it in the camper and a tent.

the twins, scotty & shelly were there, along with justin, mandy, and cameran. he's such a cute little boy, he has justin's eyes and smile. he was very shy, wouldn't let me hold him. but he and amber had a blast playing together. that was good!

sebastian and amber were very good traveling back and forth on such a long drive. everyone was tired coming back and fell asleep except for deanne. when i woke up she was feeling some strain in her back and was trying to stretch it out. of course, she wouldn't let me drive, lol.

it was a nice trip and we look forward to seeing dee's finished home!

Fool's Festival 2004

this past weekend found me in the southern part of lafayette, georgia at the split tree farm for the annual Fool's Festival. this is a weekend workshop of dancing on a beautiful 200 acre farm nestled below lookout mountain.

there was contra dancing, tango, the waltz, swing and blues. the musicians were wonderful. i had a great time, made new friends, ate strange food--everyone is a vegetarian. i danced my feet off!

this was the weekend of a full moon which was quite beautiful with the clear nights. almost everyone there was a couple, it was a great weekend of romance for MOST people. i kind of missed out on that part, maybe next year, lol.

one of the old timers wrote a song for Fool's Festival. i asked if i could add it on this post and the writer gave me permission:

The New Fool's Waltz by Karen Ray (copywrited)

Happy New Year-April Fool's Day to my dancing friends
Be a fool and share some whimsey with me
Try a Fool's Waltz and dance and you may find romance
On an evening of Fool's Fest this year

Open up and feel the magic of this lovely night
Set your heart free to be open to chance
Be light-hearted and free, share the Fool's Waltz with me
And forever remember this dance

Can you break away now and Fool's Waltz with me?
Just remember it's all about fun
Try some new steps tonight and be filled with delight
As your partner is smiling with you

Happy New Year-April Fool's Day to my dancing friends
Be a fool and share some whimsey with me
Try a Fool's Waltz and dance and you may find romance
On an evening of Fool's Fest this year.

the end.

i love this song, the music with it was written by Daniel Bowles. it was beautiful. it was a magical, fun weekend. there was romance in the air, even if it was just a moment in your dancing partner's arms as he swung you around in circles to the tune of The Tennessee Waltz. i'll be going back next year, i hope you come too.
